PlayStation 4 sales surpass Sony
Sony Corp. appears to have the early upper hand in the console wars as we reach the quarter pole in the first year of the next generation.
On Tuesday, Sony Computer Entertainment Inc. revealed it has sold more than 5.3 million PlayStation 4 consoles (as of Feb. 8) since launching in North America on November 15, 2013, topping the company first year sales target of five million units.
After selling 2.1 million units in just two weeks back in November, Sony has seen continued strong demand for its latest console despite the fact that the PS4 has yet to launch in Sony home country of Japan (the PS4 goes on sale in Japan on Feb. 22).
Both the Xbox One and PS4 are expected to see increased sales as 2014 plays out, with each system launching hotly anticipated exclusive games (beginning in earnest in March with Titanfall for the Xbox One).
“I am thrilled that so man jordans y customers around the globe have continued to select PS4 as the best place to play throughout and beyond the holiday season,” Andrew Hou jordans se, president and group CEO of SCE said in a statement.
“We are delighted that according to the NPD Group’s latest data, PS4 was January’s top selling console in the United States. The PS4 system’s m jordans omentum just keeps growing stronger, and we are extremely grateful for the continued passion and support of PlayStation fans. February 22 sees the launch of PS4 in Japan, and I’m looking forward to Japanese fans sharing the excitement of the deep s jordans ocial capabilities and entertainment experiences only possible on PS4.”
